Hanoi cooperates with ASOCIO to establish a smart city

On October 24, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung had a working session with the Asian - Oceanian Computing Industry Organization - ASOCIO on coordinating and supporting the establishment of an e-government in Hanoi and turn Hanoi into a smart city. Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Vice Chairman of ASOCIO and leaders of some departments also participated in this event.

At the meeting, Chairman of the People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, informed the initial results of the e-government establishing process in Hanoi. Since December 2015, the city has abandoned all of the individual servers in the districts. In the past two years, Hanoi has set up a network of 584 wards and communes in the city, serving public administration reform and online application services at level 3 and level 4, currently accounting for 25%, striving to reach 55% in 2017; in which, there is 95% of the business registration and 100% of customs declaration is implemented online. Especially, the city has completed records data for 7.5 million people, with 32 channels of information. For university, over 75% enrollment is implemented online, 1.8 million students are equiped with e-learning records. The city also trained over 15,000 cadres and civil servants from the city, departments, districts, communes and wards nationwide.
In the process of establishing an e-government and smart city, Hanoi is particularly interested in setting up databases, applying information technology for traffic management, emergency services, fire prevention and fighting, replying to people's questions, data analysis and system security ...
Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung emphasized that Hanoi has worked with foreign companies to build the national largest data center complexes in Hanoi, including six data centers with a total capacity of 1,200 MW. The process of building these data centers is linked to the city database system establishing process. At the same time, the city also strengthens cooperation and develops software to build a smart city with intelligent parking systems and energy saving lamps replacement.
In the coming time, Hanoi wishes to increase cooperation with domestic and foreign organizations and enterprises, including the Asian - Oceanian Computing Industry Organization - ASOCIO to speed up the construction of smart city, especially in the second phase: using the terminal for serving the residents.
Thanks to the warm welcome from leaders of the city, Chairman of the Asian - Oceanian Computing Industry Organization - ASOCIO, Mr. David Wong expressed his impressions on the results achieved in the e-government building process of Hanoi. He shared, ASOCIO has many member countries, including Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and India ... With the slogan "Reshaping the new era", ASOCIO has outstanding products including a smart city index and smart indicator building workshops.
The smart city index that ASOCIO recommends is a measurement of how information technology is applied to city management with the aim of creating a dream city. Smart City Workshop has been held with the participation of many member countries, offering many effective development solutions. In 2018, ASOCIO would like to co-organize a workshop in Hanoi, promising a great opportunity for Hanoi to learn about smart city establishment.
