Speaking at the opening ceremony, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstaintin Vasilievich said that among many Vietnamese generations, Russian language is not only regarded as a symbol of past struggle for independence and freedom but also a tool for future development.
The ambassador thanked Russian language experts, translators and lecturers for their efforts to bring Russian culture and literature to Vietnam and strengthen the mutual understanding between Vietnamese and Russian people.
Meanwhile, Director of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture Natalia Valenrievna Shanfinskaia said that Russian Day was first launched on June 6, 2011 to coincide with the birthday of Russian poet AlexandrSergeevich Pushkin on June 6 under the decision of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
This year, the festive programme includes scientific conferences, tutorial seminars and activities dedicated to the Day of Russian Language, which coincides with Alexander S. Pushkin’s birth anniversary, celebrated on June 6th.
The event is a good chance for Russian language lovers to join activities to support Russian linguists in Vietnam through pupularising modern teaching methods. Under the framework of the Russian Language Week in Vietnam, Russian linguists will join many seminars on the language and update new materials on Russian teaching methods.
Teachers of the Russian language as a foreign language coming from Russia will make presentations for local Russian studies’ specialists, such as teachers of the Russian language, translators and philologists. Presenters came from leading universities of different regions of our country including Tomsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Saint Petersburg. Representatives of Herzen State Pedagogical University and Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia were present too.
Seminars, discussions, master-classes are going to be arranged during the Russian Week. These events are to raise professionalism of Vietnamese specialists in the field of the Russian studies. Moreover, guests and participants will be able to attend public lessons in local schools.
Pushkin Evening concert devoted to the celebration and Illustrated Pushkin photo exhibition will be held as a part of the festive programme. A gala awarding ceremony of the winners of the Pushkin Fairytales competition is planned this Week too.
