PM presides over dialogue with business community

The Hanoitimes - PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on May 17 presides over a dialogue with business representatives, at the National Conference Center in Hanoi.
Themed “Cooperating with businesses”, the meeting manifests the determination to establish a creative Government facilitating actions and supporting the development of business to become the nation’s development impetus.
This is the second time Prime Minister Phuc chairs such kind of event since he took office, which is said to show his determination to build a Government of action and integrity, in service of bussiness to make businesses a real driving force of the economy.
As many as 2,000 delegates join the event, fourfold compared to the previous one organized in 2016, including 1,500 from the private sector, 200 from the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) sector, representatives from foreign embassies and large financial institutions and 100 from State owned-enterprises as well as representatives of State and press agencies.
Leaders from 63 cities and provinces also take part in the meeting through a teleconference with around 50 to 100 delegates at each destination, raising the total number of participants to nearly 10,000. Representatives from business associations will make suggestions and leaders from ministries, agencies and localities will exchange and discuss tackling difficulties for businesses.
PM Phuc called on business leaders and other delegates to contribute frank ideas and recommendations on how the Government should create best conditions for the businesses operation. He strssed that despite achievements, there remained many things that need to be addressed to remove business obstacles.
The Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung presented a report on one-year implementation of the Government's Resolution No. 35 on bussiness support and development through 2020.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vu Tien Loc presented a report on one-year implementation of the Resolution No. 35 from the business perspective. He said leaders of the Government and many ministries and localities have actively joined hands to implement the Resolution. Loc said the Government has started the "second wave of reform".
Minister of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung read a report on the Government's efforts to support business development, which covers six categories of solutions. According to the report, many shortcomings still remains: many obsolete policies and mechanisms still exist, hindering business development, some ministries and agencies are still slow in processing recommendations of businesses, the role of business associations are still limited, among others.
Minister Dung named the central tasks for the coming time to support business development, including continuing improvement of laws and policies, enhancing the enforcement of institutions and law, speeding up administrative reforms, improving businesses' feedback processing, accelerating e-Government, promoting the role of the Prime Minister's Task Force (which was established by PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to inspect and supervise the implementation of tasks delegated to ministries, agencies and localities by the Government and the Prime Minister himself).
Chairman of BRG Group Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga asked the acceleration of reforming administrative procedures to beef up the development of economic sectors, including the private one. She urged the Government to soon put into practice the spirit of the 5th plenum of the 12th Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee so that private businesses can compete equally with other economic sectors.
Chairman of the TH Group Thai Huong stressed on prompt issuance of food safety standards for each type of product, especially dairy as well as solution for timely realization of the school milk program.
President of the AMCHAM suggested ideas on food safety, logistics, and the signing of customs mutual assistance agreement between Viet Nam and the US.
President of the Republic of Korea Business Association in Viet Nam put forward solutions to improve businesses' status in new industries and remove non-tariff barriers between Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea....
In the afternoon, the Government will convene meeting with leaders of ministries and localities to consider businesses' feedback presented at the conference.
