Vietnam - Lao celebrates 55 years of friendship

According to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the fabric of Vietnamese society is strengthened by our enduring links with Laos.
This is the official information announced at a commemorative reception in Hanoi on the Vietnam - Laos 55th anniversary of relations. Vietnam and Laos are strategically important to each other and today we recognize the enormous potential for further solidifying these relations and elevating them to a yet higher level, Party General Secretary Trong continues.
Analysing the regional and international situation, Trong affirmed that historical lessons of the relations between the two countries as well as the spirit and contents of the Treaty maintain their value and role as a direction for the development of the ties between the two Parties, States and people.
He also highlighted the need to continue completing mechanisms, policies to effectively realise agreements and strategic targets set by both sides, thus further expanding the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Together, Vietnam Party General Secretary notes, the two nations have a partnership that has and will continue to contribute to regional peace, stability, security, development and prosperity.
On his part, Lao Vice President Phankham Viphavanh showed deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, affirming the Party, State and people of Laos  are determined to preserve the friendship and special solidarity between the two nations, which have been nurtured with blood of soldiers and people of generations in both countries.
At the event, Huynh Dac Huong, a 97 years old veteran who represents the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos, expressed his belief that the young generations in both countries will continue promoting the tradition of bilateral ties.
