The tours aim to implement the policy of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on exploiting the Hanoi Opera House as a place to perform quality art works, preserve traditional art and build academic art works.
Accordingly, the Department of Performing Arts, Hanoi Opera House and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will offer two tours, including a Hanoi Opera House tour and a combination tour of Hanoi Opera House and art shows.
Visitors will have an opportunity to be welcomed into the VIP room of the theatre, learn about history and architecture, visit the displaying room and enjoy art programmes. The show will be performed by artists from four leading theatres, namely the Vietnam Singing and Dancing Theatre, the Vietnam Tuồng (Classical Drama) Theatre, the Vietnam Chèo (Traditional Opera) Theatre, and the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre.
Excerpts of folk art plays have been selected for inclusion in the show. The programme will connect with other cultural activities at the Hanoi walking street, which is expected to become a special cultural attraction for tourists in Hanoi.
The Hanoi Opera House is located near Hoan Kiem Lake on August Revolution Square. Following the end of the August Revolution in 1945, The Hanoi Opera House reverted from entertaining the French elite to becoming the centre of major historical events including the first session of the National Assembly of the Republic. The Hanoi building went into a state of decline prior to being renovated and brought up to date in 1997 which included the installation of state-of-the-art equipment and the renewal of some of the interior decorations. These improvements returned the opera house to its former glory
Nowadays, Hanoi Opera House is one of Hanoi’s cultural centres where art shows, concerts, dance performances and other events usually take place, with the scale ranging from national to international. Hanoi Opera House was modelled on the Palais Garnier, the older of Paris’s two opera houses, and is considered to be one of the architectural landmarks of Hanoi. After the departure of the French, the opera house became the scene for several political events, Vietnamese plays and musicals.
